Born 1990 in Italy, Jessica is an artist fascinated by build environment, technology and the use of space which reflects on contemporary behaviors of everyday life.
Graduated at the Design Academy of Eindhoven with an environmental art installation and a spatial design research, she hold an MA in Photography from the Royal Academy of Fine Art of Antwerp. Her Multi-disciplinary practice comes from a systematic process of investigation, with a spirit for intuitive experimentation as a means of expression.
She has been working in the creative fields for international studios as Studio Zimoun (CH), The Metropolitan Art Centre (UK), at STRP Festival (NL) and many others, creating innovative storytelling concepts and immersive projects for the public sphere. As young artists, she exhibited at Dutch Design Week, Milano Design Week, Florence Light, Athens Photo Festival, among others. Her work can be seen in the permanent collection of the Benaki Museum Athens and Centre for Artists´ Publications in Bremen.
Part of her current project: ELECTRIC SUN, has been exhibited during Equilibrio Sottile in Fotografica 2018 ITA; at the European Month Of Photography Berlin 2018, and in different locations in Antwerp.
Jessica works between Belgium, the Netherlands and Italy.

A furniture design graduate, Marcus began his journalism career writing for publications including Blueprint, The Guardian, The Independent on Sunday and Conde Nast Traveller. He launched icon, the international architecture and design magazine, in 2003, and edited the publication until November 2006.
Under Marcus, the magazine rapidly established itself as one of the world’s most influential and respected design journals, winning a string of awards including Launch of the Year and Designer of the Year in 2003 and Monthly Magazine of the Year in 2005 and 2006. Marcus himself has won numerous awards, including Journalist of the Year (2002) and Architectural Journalist of the Year (2004). He won a BSME award for Best Brand-Building Initiative in 2005.
He also regularly appears on radio and TV, writing and presenting a documentary about French designer Philippe Starck for the BBC in 2003 and appearing in the major BBC series Home in 2006. An accomplished public speaker, Marcus has spoken at conferences in London, Tokyo, New York, Stockholm and Cape Town, among others.
As founder and editor-in-chief of Dezeen, Marcus has won awards including the BSME’s Business Editor of the Year in 2013. In the same year he was named one of the 100 most influential figures in the UK creative industries by the Hospital Club. In 2011, French magazine Architectural Digest placed him in the 100 qui comptent list of the most important figures in global design.

Robert Potokar was born in 1965, and he graduated from the Ljubljana Faculty of Architecture in 1990.
He leads the architectural office Ravnikar Potokar, which he founded with Vojteh Ravnikar. The two architects collaborated for many years, co-designing major projects and competition entries. More than 40 of their competition entries were awarded prizes, with 12 receiving first prize. Their most prominent joint realised works include: the Mandrač commercial-residential complex in Koper, the France BevkPublic Libraryin Nova Gorica, the Bled Business School, the Brinje Primary School in Grosuplje, the Masarykova F1 and F2 office buildings in Ljubljana, Residential Tower C in Majske poljane in Nova Gorica and numerous others.
In collaboration with other co-designers, Robert Potokar has received a further eleven first prizes in public competitions and has realised numerous projects, including: the renovation of Kinodvor and the renovation of Kinoteka Hallin Ljubljana,theTrnovo Centre for the Elderly in Ljubljana,the Hodoš Centre for the Elderly, the Home for the Elderly in Idrija, elementary schools in Kamnik and Litija, swimming pool Kolezija in Ljubljana, buildings in nature reserve Škocjanski zatok, renovations of public spaces in Škofja Loka and Ajdovščina and numerous single-family houses.
Together with colleagues he also received several awards and prizes, among them:
Piranesi Award in 1998 and 2004, The Golden Pen award of the Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia in 2007, 2008 and 2015 and the First Prize for best urban space on international Salon of architecture in Novi Sad, Serbia, 2018.
In 2002 he published a book An architecture guide to Gorenjska in collaboration with Špela Kuhar and Blaž Budja, for which he received a Plečnik medal. In 2008 he published an architecture guide Lets see the city Ljubljana together with Špela Kuhar, the guide was selected as the best designed Slovenian book of 2008.
For more than two decades, he has co-created the central European architectural journal Piranesi, and for the last eight years, he has been its chief editor.
In 2015, he earned the title of assistant professor at the University of Maribor, Faculty of Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering and Architecture, where he works as a guest lecturer since 2010.
Ravnikar Potokar architecture office
Architecture office Ravnikar Potokar d.o.o. was founded in 2003, by architects Vojteh Ravnikar and Robert Potokar. Before that, the office operated as a part of companies KARS d.o.o. Sežana and ARHE d.o.o. Ljubljana. In the last years, the office successfully works independently. The office is successfully led by Robert Potokar since September 2010 when Vojteh Ravnikar passed away.
The office specialises in architectural design, from exterior and interior design to urbanism. Cooperation with many experts enables the office to take on larger projects.
The office is based on Gregorčičeva ulica 9 in Ljubljana. The team that works with the head of the office consists of graduate architects with many years of experience: Tanja Košuta, Sabina Colnar, Staša Baranja, Ajdin Bajrović, Javier Carrera, Mateja Šetina, Matej Fornazarič,Jernej Borko, Anja Patekar, Tina Gradišer, Mina Gutović, Tadej Kavčič … A total of ten to twelve architects work in the office.

Dean Lah was born in 1971 in Maribor, Slovenia and graduated from the Ljubljana Faculty of Architecture in 1998. In the same year he cofounded the architectural office Enota where he works as partner architect ever since.
For his work in Enota he received many architectural awards, his work has been presented on numerous exhibitions and published in professional and broad interest publications all over the world. Dean lectures at architectural schools, conferences and symposiums in Slovenia and abroad. Since 2016 he is teaching at Architectural Department of University of Maribor. With intention to promote the importance of architectural quality, he has been active as the member of several architectural award and architectural competitions juries, member of executive board of Chamber of Architecture and Spatial Planning of Slovenia, member of European Forum for Architectural policies, member of executive board of Architects Association of Ljubljana and some other formal and informal networks and events on architecture.

Céline Baumann is a French landscape architect based in Switzerland. She studied at the Akademie van Bouwkunst in Amsterdam and the Ecole du Paysage de Versailles, completing a master of landscape architecture cum laude in 2010. She has collaborated with the offices Inside-Outside / Petra Blaisse in Amsterdam, atelier le balto and Topotek 1 in Berlin before to start her own studio in Basel.
Over the years, she has worked in a variety of contexts, reflecting her personal interest in international exchange and cross-cultural environments. She aims through an intersectional lens to create dynamic open spaces, informed by the interactive ecology between people and nature. This design work is complemented by a commitment to writing and research, allowing her to explore the collective value of nature and its impact on individuals.
Baumann is currently Future Architecture alumna from the European Union and Akademie Schloss Solitude fellow in Stuttgart. She is also the co-founder of the activist group Schwesterprojekt in Basel. Her work has been presented internationally in institutions including the Museum of Architecture and Design of Ljubljana (2019), the architecture gallery VI PER in Prague (2019), the Theater Festival Basel (2018), the International University Campus in Paris (2018), the LaBa EPFL in Basel (2018), and the University of Agricultural Science of Alnarp in Malmö (2016).
Apart from giving a lecture Celine will also conduct a one week workshop on public space in Prishtina.

Jeffrey Shumaker, AICP, Assoc. AIA, has been working at the intersection of architecture and city planning for more than twenty years, in both the public and private sectors, with a particular focus on the design and programming of the public realm. Most recently Jeffrey served as the Director of Urban Planning and Design for KPF, a global architecture and planning practice based in NYC, working on projects in China, Australia, Europe, and the Americas.
Before that, Jeffrey served as the Chief Urban Designer for NYC, joining the Department of City Planning (DCP) in 2007 under then Commissioner Amanda Burden and Mayor Michael Bloomberg. For almost ten years with DCP, Jeffrey worked to ensure a high level of design quality on public spaces across the city and helped shape plans for neighborhoods as diverse as Coney Island in Brooklyn, the west side of Manhattan, including the High Line, and Long Island City in Queens.
Prior to joining the city, Jeffrey garnered more than ten years of experience helping communities, architecture and planning firms, private and non-profit institutions, towns and cities create better places to live, work, study and play. Jeffrey maintains his consultancy, URBANscape, which he began in 2002.
Jeffrey holds dual Masters Degrees in Architecture, Planning and Urban Design from MIT and a Bachelor of Architecture with Honors from Syracuse University. He is the recipient of the Public Architect Award from AIANY and the Michael Weil Award from DCP, both recognizing excellence in urban design in the public realm. Jeffrey teaches and lectures frequently.

Skrei began its practice in 2009 with an inquiry into the qualities of Portuguese raw materials. By experimenting with mortars and construction tools, Skrei was able to develop specific materials and started administrating its own works. It has become a workshop of architects of experimental constructions where construction techniques and craftsmanship have combined with sophisticated engineering for refined clients. Skrei’s architectural practice is based on a close relationship between design, construction, and cultural production. It’s an approach that shows how materials can incorporate knowledge and how this knowledge can be instrumental in defining the praxis of architecture.
Skrei was founded by Pedro Jervell and Francisco Adão da Fonseca. The two Portuguese architects, graduates of the Architectural Association and Delft University respectively, were initially attracted to the built environment because of ‘the plain physiognomy of things’ and the ‘naïve appeal of form’. Rapidly, they realized that it is all the ‘invisible dynamics’ shaping forms that are much more fascinating – politics and economics, technology and the environment, education and power. They traded things for processes.
Francisco Adão da Fonseca is an Architect and MSc from the Technical University of Delft, Faculty of Architecture. Member of the Dutch Architects Association and the Order of Architects in Portugal. He collaborated with Leembouw Nederland in the study of low-energy building techniques (2004-09). In 2010 he started Skrei Lda, which is today a leading collective in the field of sustainable architecture in Portugal.
Francisco will be speaking about the “Integrative Architecture – a working model for contemporary architecture”.
Current architecture seems unable to tackle grand questions of our time, from the scarcity of resources to energy and water security, questions of identity and privacy. Skrei’s integrative practice is a working model that extends the architect domain into areas such as sourcing of materials, building construction, engineering, and applied research so that architecture may effectively take a role in answering these questions.
#HAPËZEROSPACE represent Albania at #BiennaleArchitettura2018. The theme Freespace is interpreted as the metamorphosis in liberating of the space on Tirana’s ground floor, in a total freedom of acting as an entirety of personal individual performances of the citizen, creating a city-scale plaza where everyone serves something to the fellow citizen. AlbanianPavillion2018 is conceived as a multisensory experience through an installation of spatial, visual and acoustic stimuli where the visitor is invited to perceive the free space and true essence of the city.

Elton Koritari – Curator
Elton is the co-founder of EJAlbum, an important communication hub in Albania. Moreover, he is a project manager and curator of art events, lecturer of photography in different universities, schools and cultural associations, author of art projects collaborating with almost all the galleries, museums and art institutes in Albania. He works for years in marketing & communications representing in Albania some of the most important international brands in that sector. He is the co-author of the book “Knots – 163 Contemporary Artists from Albania” and the Project Manager and Curator of Imago Mundi in Albania.
Jurtin Hajro – Architect
Jurtin is an architect, founder of commonsense.studio, an international office based in Tirana. Graduated in 2006 in the Middle East Technical University, Ankara, since 2009 he has been a lecturer in the Department of Architecture at Epoka University. In 2013, he established CoRDA – Center of Research and Design in Architecture in Tirana, becoming the first director of the design office within the university. He is also the architect of Epoka Social Center, a building that has received international attention in awards, nominations and academic publications. Jurtin has been awarded in many international competition and is the creator and curator of Modeling the Idea, Pavilion Days, an event calling for interdisciplinary collaboration between artists and architects.

Nils-Peter Fischer, Dipl.-Ing.
Associate Director, Zaha Hadid Architects
Nils joined Zaha Hadid Architects in 2004 and has developed a large design portfolio spanning Europe, the Middle East and Asia, with a focus on cultural facilities such as Performing Arts Facilities and Museums as well as projects involving novelty design, engineering and construction solutions. In recent years, he has been working on complex high-rise structures.
Nils co-leads Cluster 1, a business unit within Zaha Hadid Architects focusing on large cultural, infrastructure and transportation projects.
Nils has an academic background in experimental computational geometry. He studied in Germany and Italy and graduated from the Technische Universitaet Darmstadt, Germany with a degree in architecture in 2002.
At Zaha Hadid Architects, he co-founded the computational design research group CODE, developing next-generation technologies for contextual design, form finding and rationalization, and exploring the potential of computational design from object to urban scale environments. Beyond in-house research, the CODE group engages in academic workshops and research partnerships with universities around the world.
Nils has worked on a range of projects for ZHA, including the Eli and Edythe Broad Art Museum in Michigan/ USA, the Dubai Opera House and Cultural Centre in Dubai, the Abu Dhabi Performing Arts Centre and the Nanjing Youth international center, a mixed-use development featuring a 315m twin tower. He is also responsible for the Grand Theatre de Rabat currently under construction in the Kingdom of Morocco. A recent research focus are “post-automotive cities“, exploring walkable high density urban environments both inexisting and future metropolises.
